Principal's Message

Fall is here! With the Fall Season comes the change of weather and we begin to feel cooler mornings and not-so-hot afternoons. For our school, it also signals the start of a 2nd six weeks, beginning of year testing and extra-curricular activities!

I encourage all parents to review your child’s report card. Check to see that grades are above a 70 and that absences are less than three. If you have any grade below a 70, schedule a parent-teacher conference and find out why your child is failing. Likewise, if your child has more than three absences, schedule a meeting with the teacher or the administrator in charge of attendance. Remember to send doctor’s notes or written excuses for absences. Keep in mind that a student with two or more absences in a month is predicted to be identified as a “chronically absent” by the end of the school year if the pattern continues. According to research, chronically absent students tend to drop out of high school and/or struggle academically.

Our newsletter includes the dates for athletic events this month. I recommend you see our students in action as they participate in Volleyball and Flag Football. Great job coaches, students and parents.

I encourage all parents to help with our fundraisers. At this time, we have our ice cream sales outside the gym (after school) and we are selling spirit t-shirts and jackets too! T-shirt orders are already due. Please call the office.

We celebrate birthday’s every day! However, the last Friday of the month is designated as a day for classroom birthday celebrations. Only store bought cupcakes and juices are allowed.

As always, thank you for all your support.

Sincerely,

Rosalba Martinez

Principal
